Shadow the hedgehog is a black and red hedgehog, and the result of an experiment conducted over 50 years ago to create the ultimate life form. He is Sonic's spitting image, and can match him in any capacity, including his speed thanks to his special jet-equipped boots. Shadow also inherently has special control over chaos energy, which he can use to manipulate time with Chaos Control, or obliterate enemies with several devastating attacks including Chaos Spear and the deadly Chaos Blast. Shadow answers to no one, instead only doing what he deems as being in his best interests.

Once Sonic has collected all seven Chaos Emeralds, he is able to harness their power to transform into Super Sonic. His fur glows a rich golden color, and he becomes capable of flight and running at even faster speeds than before. Super Sonic also gets a tremendous increase in power, which he has needed to defeat the greatest threats that nobody else could stand against.

Silver is a white, telekinetic hedgehog from the distant future. Silver's Psychokinesis gives him the distinct ability to levitate, and even manipulate his environment and objects around him using the power of his mind alone. Silver's time is a world wrought with devastation, overwhelmed by fire and destruction. Desperate to save the world from this fate, Silver's solution is to travel back in time, in hopes of finding and stopping the trigger of the catastrophic chain of events, ultimately saving the future from certain ruin.
