Dracula is an immortal being originally born in the 11th century. After a harrowing fight on the decks of Wing Fortress, Dr. Robotnik makes a last ditch attempt to flee, and abandoned ship to fly himself to his ultimate creation: The Death Egg. Determined to not let Robotnik escape, Sonic and Tails take to the skies in Sonic's trusty bi-plane: "The Tornado". To help the plane to reach the speed that it needs, Tails has fitted the plane’s fuselage with a special rocket booster. With this upgrade, Sonic and Tails are locked in a desperate race to catch up to Dr. Robotnik’s escape ship, so that Sonic can put an end to his evil plans for world domination.
