3 Reasons Why You Should Play the Conker Series

NO SPOILERS AHEAD

Conker pre-orders NOW OPEN!

It was announced that Rare joined First 4 Figures' family of licensors during the 35k Reveal back in December 2017, and with them both the Conker and the Banjo-Kazooie licenses, and in a span of just a year, we've already launched both products, with CONKER from Conker's Bad Fur Day as the latest one.

Some of you may have looked past the game entirely when it came out in 2001 and the remake in 2005 (now backward-compatible for Xbox One), but I highly recommend that you at least give it a shot it as it is an experience unlike any other. The remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded, is a great way to introduce new players to the series and is currently available exclusively on Xbox platforms. Some of you may prefer to try the original version, but it was released on the dated Nintendo 64, so it might be a bit difficult to get your hands on. Today, we present you three reasons why we think you should play the Conker series.

  1. Next level video game humor

As the cliché goes, laughter is the best medicine, and boy is this game full of hilarious moments. Conker's interactions and dialogue with the cast of characters is the highlight and the center of attention, and it wouldn't be Conker's Bad Fur Day without these. The developer's decision to completely overhaul the original idea of Twelve Tales: Conker 64 to what Conker's Bad Fur Day is today is, in my opinion, a game changer and is what cemented the game to classic and iconic status. Yes, it may be off-color humor to some, but that doesn't change the fact the Conker's Bad Fur Day is still considered by many as one for the books.

  1. Ahead of its time

2D and 3D platformers were all the rage during this game's generation, which is what Conker's Bad Fur Day is, but no other title did it quite like this Rare classic. Introduced at the very beginning of the game are landmarks called Context Sensitive buttons, which, once activated, briefly grants Conker special abilities so that players may progress through the story or gain access to locations they otherwise couldn't have accessed. This mechanic was Rare (see what I did there?) and one of a kind back then that it made the gameplay all the more interesting. This coupled with our first reason makes for an experience unlike any other.

Context Sensitive

  1. M-rated childhood classic

Conker's Bad Fur Day is considered by many as one of the all-time childhood greats, but chances are you've never played the game before, or rather weren't allowed to play the game, as it was ESRB rated Mature upon release and is disclaimed not suitable for anyone below the age of 17. The game contains bloody violence, sexual innuendos, foul language, and the like. In my honest opinion, however, I do not consider these to be deal breakers and are even contributing factors to why the game is so iconic. For as long as the audience playing is age-appropriate, newcomers would immediately fall in love with everyone's beloved red squirrel. Now that you're older (and probably have a dirtier mind), your parents can't control you anymore from playing the games you enjoy. Just be sure to be a responsible adult and do the same as your folks did if you already have kids of your own.

That's all we have for now. Hopefully, this convinces some of you to jump onto the Conker hype. Our CONKER statue is still open for pre-orders until the 1st of February 2019. That still gives you plenty of time to try the series out yourselves.
