Super Monkey Ball is a fun and challenging party platformer developed by Amusement Vision and published by SEGA for the GameCube console in 2001. It was originally an arcade game entitled Monkey Ball, and it had an analog joystick shaped like a banana. During a time when video games were becoming more complicated, the developers wanted to take a step back and create something that was easy to understand but was just as entertaining to play.

The main objective of the game is to get your monkey inside a transparent ball from the starting point to the end goal within a limited time by tilting the entire stage around so that the ball goes the desired direction. It isn't, however, as effortless as it sounds due to the elaborate level designs. The game eases you in with a few straightforward levels, but as your progress, they become more and more bizarre. You have to drop from one platform to another, speed down slopes without overshooting your trajectory, avoid massive obstacles, and many more, all while trying to keep yourself from falling off the borderless stages. It was this simple yet complex gameplay that drove this franchise to critical acclaim, which then bore fruit to 18 other sequel/spin-off titles to date.
