Developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Wii, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is a 2007 third-person adventure/puzzle video game with a point-and-click interface and gesture mechanics. It was inspired by classic point-and-click-style adventure games.
The story in Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure follows the adventures of an ambitious young pirate named Zack and his monkey friend, Wiki. The duo discovers the sentient talking skull of the pirate captain, Barbaros, who tasks them with finding all of the pieces of his cursed body. In exchange, Barbaros promises Zack and Wiki his legendary pirate ship and the location of the fabled Treasure Island.
Gameplay in Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure consists of using point-and-click mechanics and gestures with the Wii Remote to overcome obstacles and reach a treasure chest at the end of each level. Players interact with objects to solve puzzles via gestures such as twisting, turning, raising, and shaking the Wii Remote.
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure received a positive critical reception, with its unique gameplay, originality, and controls being especially praised. It was nominated for and won a wide variety of awards, including Best Puzzle Game, Best Adventure Game, Best Artistic Design, and more.
